  • What is a working dog candidate?

    Puppies come into Kaiser K9, Inc to prepare for working careers. Once here, we start their training and drive building. Once placed, organizations and handlers finish their dog’s training in their prospective careers.

  • Our candidates…

    • Have been introduced to foundational working behaviors, fitness exercises, and obedience.

    • Have been extensively socialized and exposed to a variety of working environments.

    • Have adequate and well-built working drives.

    • Are ready to finish up their training with you!

  • How to get your candidate:

    We encourage handlers and organizations to apply for a puppy as early as possible! You will be matched with a puppy who is suitable for your job or organization.

    Applications should include earliest age for placement. Placed puppies will have adequate socialization, training, drive, and environmental soundness for their intended careers.

  • Once your application has been approved, average wait times for an available dog are between 6-18 months.

  • Our candidates are placed based on how well-matched they are to our procurement applicants. We do not determine placements based on whether a dog is male or female in order to keep maintain application efficiency.

  • No. Our procurement system is based on an application queue. To prevent a single organization or individual from overwhelming our system, once a procurement application has been fulfilled with a placement, you will be contacted immediately to be placed back into the queue.

  • Yes. We are committed to our mission to provide no cost procurement options for non-profit organizations, government agencies, and active handlers in good standing with non-profit organizations or government agencies. We aim to place 80% of all candidates with No Cost applicants. In general 1 out of every 5 candidates are allocated to Low Cost applicants.

  • No. Your working dog candidate is ready for your professional training and expertise to prepare them to become an operational working dog. The amount of training your dog receives depends on the age the candidate joins our program and the age at which you procure your dog.

  • All Kaiser K9, Inc puppies can come back to us for the rest of their lives, no questions asked.

  • If you are procuring on behalf of yourself, all transfers of ownership of your procured dog must be made through Kaiser K9, Inc.

    If you are procuring on behalf of your organization, Kaiser K9, Inc strongly encourages your organization to adhere to similar guidelines.

  • Kaiser K9, Inc stands by our candidates’ drive levels, environmental stability, and sociability. Candidates procured after 9 months of age include preliminary orthopedic radiographs.

    Kaiser K9, Inc is committed to limiting your risk of failure with your dog. However, as with any dog, once dogs leave us, we cannot guarantee their future health or performance.
